About Clamp & Crank
Three tools, one reader, and a short list of things we will not claim.
Clamp & Crank covers three tools: portable jump starters, tire inflators and battery chargers. They are the three things that get a stranded driver moving again, and almost nobody covers all three together — the category is split between single-product sites and general automotive publishers who treat each as a footnote.
The site exists because of a specific reader: the person who needs the tool to work away from home. Weight, packed size, battery capacity and durability decide things for that reader in a way they do not for someone buying for a garage shelf. And the questions that reader actually asks — can I fly with this, what does a hot trunk do to it, what size do I need for a diesel — are the ones the rest of the category answers worst.
Who writes it
Ryder M., the hands-on owner behind Magoo Media Group. He builds and maintains Clamp & Crank, testing and researching the trunk tools that get drivers home — portable jump starters, tire inflators and battery chargers.
That is the whole bio, and it is deliberately the whole bio. There is no certification, no trade qualification, no stated number of years in the industry, no award, and no test lab — because none of those exist, and inventing any of them would be the easiest thing on this site for a reader or a competitor to falsify. Our methodology page sets out exactly what we do instead.

How the site is organized
Five sections, each a destination rather than a list: jump starters, tire inflators, battery chargers, the trunk kit and road trip and travel. Inside each, buying guides carry the picks, model reviews go deeper on a single product, and the guides answer the sizing and spec questions that decide which pick is right for you.
If you want the shortest path to a decision, the three sizing pages do most of the work: what size jump starter do I need, what amp battery charger do I need, and what PSI should my tires be.
How the site is funded
