How this site makes money, exactly how the links work, and why you will not find a price anywhere on it.
Short answer
Clamp & Crank earns a commission when you buy through links on this site, at no extra cost to you. Commission does not influence which products we recommend or how we rank them. We publish no prices — every link goes to the retailer, where the current price is shown.
The Amazon Associates statement
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
Clamp & Crank is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
What that means for you
- It costs you nothing extra. The price you pay is the same whether you arrive at the retailer through our link or by typing the address yourself.
- It is how the site is funded. There is no paywall, no advertising, no sponsored content and no subscription. Commission is the only revenue.
- It does not change what we recommend. Rankings follow the published criteria on our methodology page, and our editorial policy sets out how that separation is kept.
How the links work
We are deliberately specific about this, because "affiliate link" covers a range of practices and some of them are worse than others.

Which retailers we earn from
Amazon, and at present only Amazon. Every buy button on this site goes to Amazon, tagged to our Associates account.
Some articles also link to manufacturer specification pages — NOCO, DEWALT, Battery Tender — so you can check a figure at its source. We earn nothing from those links. They are editorial citations, they are not `nofollow`, and their whole purpose is to let you verify what we have written.
If we join another retailer's program in future, this page will say so before any link to it appears on the site.
On prices
You will not find a price anywhere on this site — not a figure, not a range, not "from $X", and not a "was/now" comparison. This is a deliberate policy rather than an oversight.
We have no live price feed, and retail prices change constantly. A price we published last month could easily be wrong today, and a wrong price is worse than no price: it either talks you out of a good buy or sets you up for a surprise at checkout. So every buy button reads "Check price on Amazon" and sends you to where the current price actually is.
Where disclosure appears
- Above the first affiliate link on every page that carries product recommendations.
- At the point of each click — a `#ad` marker and a link back to this page sits beneath every buy button.
- In the footer of every page on the site, including pages with no affiliate links at all.
