Privacy policy

This policy explains what Clamp & Crank collects and what it does not. The short version: we have no accounts, no logins and no newsletter, we do not sell data, and the only information we actively collect is what you type into the contact form plus anonymous analytics about page visits.

• No accounts, logins or passwords. There is nothing to sign up for on this site.
• No newsletter or mailing list. We do not collect email addresses for marketing, and there is no signup form anywhere.
• No payment information, ever. Purchases happen at the retailer, not here. We never see a card number, a shipping address or an order.
• No advertising trackers or retargeting pixels. We run no display advertising.
• No data sales or sharing for marketing. We do not sell, rent or trade information about you.

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic — which pages get read, which links get clicked, roughly where readers are. It sets cookies and processes data on Google's infrastructure under Google's own terms.

We use it to answer questions like "is the sizing guide more useful than the roundup?" — not to identify you. We do not attempt to link analytics data to a named person, and we have no other source of data to link it to.

You can opt out with Google's own browser add-on, by blocking analytics in your browser or an extension, or by using a privacy-focused browser. Nothing on this site breaks if you do — the site ships almost no client-side JavaScript beyond the mobile menu and the click event.

When you click a buy button, you pass through a redirect on this site and arrive at Amazon with our Associates tag attached. Amazon then applies its own cookies and privacy practices, which are governed by Amazon's privacy notice and not by this one.

What we learn from that click is which product link was clicked and on which page — an aggregate signal, not a record of your purchase. We do not see what you buy, what you paid, or any of your account or delivery details. Full detail on how the links work is on our affiliate disclosure page.

Submissions are delivered by email using Microsoft Graph and land in the inbox for contact@clampandcrank.com. We use your email address to reply and for nothing else — no list, no follow-up marketing.

The form applies basic anti-spam checks: a hidden field bots fill and humans do not, a check on how long the form took to complete, and a per-IP submission limit held in memory. Those checks look at the submission itself and your IP address at the moment of submission; they do not create a stored profile.

This site is written for adults buying automotive tools and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information through the contact form, email us and we will delete it.

• Ask what we hold about you. Given the above, it is almost certainly nothing beyond a contact-form email if you sent one.
• Ask us to delete a contact-form message. Email the address below and we will remove it.
• Block analytics in your browser, with an extension, or with Google's opt-out add-on.
• Avoid affiliate links by searching for a product name at the retailer directly. The articles are identical either way.

If what we collect changes, this page changes with it and the last-updated date at the top moves. We will not quietly broaden collection and leave an old date in place.
